Understanding Salary of Bank Clerk

The entire banking sector in India is experiencing staggering growth. The public sector banks are not far behind. Bank clerk is the entry point of a graduate in a public sector banks. Nationalized banks recruit bank clerk through CWE (Common Written Exam) organized by the industry body IBPS.

One thing that surprises me is complete confusion about the salary structure of a bank clerk in nationalized banks. IBPS and nationalized banks are also not doing any good by publishing salary structure in a sort of cryptology. Following is the salary structure of a bank clerk in India (I am discussing salary structure of bank clerk in nationalized banks, not SBI and its associate banks):

7200-400 / 3-8400-500 / 3-9900-600 / 4-12300-700 / 7- 17200-1300 / 1-18500-800 / 1-19300

What do you mean by this salary structure? Isn’t it cryptic? Why IBPS doesn’t take a stand to discuss this structure?

If you are also wondering about the salary structure of a bank clerk, here I am going to discuss it with you.

a. 7200 – 400: When you will join the bank as a bank clerk, your first basic salary will be Rs. 7200. After that, you will get Rs. 400 increment next year. If you have joined the bank in 2014, your basic salary will be Rs. 7600 in 2015, and Rs. 8000 in 2016.

b. 3-8400-500: It means when you will complete 3 years with the bank, your basic salary will be increased to Rs. 8400, and you will get Rs. 500 increment each year.

And, you are required to go ahead like that. You can decipher the entire salary structure by following this method.

One more thing, your take home salary will be much more than the basic structure. You will also get HRA, and DA along with other conveyance.
